Shark Navigator Lift-Away – For 2016, we love the choice of the Shark Lift Away. Perfect for everyday use as well, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away is probably the most popular due the value it provides. Where more vacuums lose suction power over time, the suction power is always preserved with the Lift-Away as they use a unique dirt collection and filtering process. For pets specifically, the Shark Navigator comes with a larger turbo pet brush which lifts it off problem surfaces. With swivel steering and a lightweight base, there is no doubt this vacuum will remain your favorite for many years! In addition, most homes now come with some sort of hardwood flooring. The Lift away excels with hardwood floors as well making it a great combination vacuum. Read our review.
Miele S7260 – Catered specifically to animals, the Miele S7260 includes a unique brush that automatically adjusts to the surface it is being used on. Where some vacuums use different tools to get hair from floors and furniture, the Miele S7260 allows you to use the same device the whole time. With an auto close filter bag, and the top of the line HEPA filter (great against allergies) the S7260 promises to pick up more than 99.99% of any dust and dirt in your home. Read our review.
Eureka Pet Lover – At less than 9 pounds, the Eureka Pet Lover Mighty Mite is one of the lighter vacuums we looked at in our best. Priced very well, the Eureka Pet Lover includes an additional rotating brush specifically designed to pull and suck animal hair out of anything. Many people have found the vacuum works very well if you have cat litter issues as well like we do. Pets are great at home. However, at any giving time of the year, they are always shedding the hair. This means that you will have to vacuum all throughout the week just to keep it away! A robotic vacuum cleaner makes your life easier as it will tackle these problems on its own.
Cats shed their hair throughout the whole year; Rabbits shed hair once every three months; Most dogs shed the hair during fall and spring. The first stage involves agitation of the debris that is embedded on the surface. The machine has a side brush that brushes along the wall edges while another counter-rotating one cleans underneath.
The second stage involves the use of a powerful air jet that sucks the dirt that has been agitated. The dirt is then put into the dustbin from the back to enable it hold more dirt.
The vacuum cleaner uses iAdapt Responsive Navigation programming that enables it navigate through furniture and fitting while doing its cleaning. It also voids climbing raised surfaces and stairs. It also comes with rubber bumpers at all sides to prevent it from scratching the furniture and floorboards as it zooms past them.

Whenever, its battery runs low, the cleaner goes back to its charging base for recharge. This action is automatic and does not require your input.
Limitations of the Roomba 650
Roomba 650 takes long to fully charge. Thus, it consumes a lot of power for its charging. It also does not have a battery meter. You cannot tell how much power is left. The vacuum cleaner also does not come with a remote control, which makes it hard for you to direct it to clean a particular area in an expansive room. The cleaner can only work well in clearly defined areas. It may not be of much assistance in areas with many pieces of furniture as it may leave some places unattended.

The Neato Pro Pet vacuum cleaner is an easy to operate, laser guided vacuum cleaner. It can clean room to room automatically and work on the edges, around the corners and below the furniture. What to look for when buying a pet vacuum?
Most people will just purchase a regular vacuum and assume it will work just as well with pet hair. Unfortunately, this is a big mistake. We’ve tried many different types of regular vacuums (some expensive and some not so expensive), and have never had much luck with getting it out of certain pieces of furniture. So what are some things you need to look for when deciding on a vacuum for pets? Here are a few things we think you should include in your search:
- Attachments – Most vacuums advertised for picking up pet hair simply include an additional attachment. This attachment is normally a power rotating brush that is designed to pick it from difficult places like furniture. There are some vacuums that already have this feature built in, so if you don’t like switching nozzles all of the time you may want to look into one of these models.
- Capacity – Another great feature to look for is how much capacity the vacuum can hold. One of the more frustrating aspects of vacuum cleaning is the constant emptying that some require in order to continue to clean. A larger capacity vacuum allows you to do more with much less maintenance.
- Cord length – If you are anything like me, you like a vacuum with a long cord length so you don’t have to move the cord from room to room. In some cases if you are lucky with your house layout and the cord length of the vacuum, you may be able to plug your unit into a central spot and vacuum your entire floor. Cords are a pain!
- Multi-floor capability – Most living spaces now include many different surfaces that need to be cleaned. This can be hardwood flooring, and furniture coverings. If this sounds like your living space, you’ll need a vacuum that can perform on many different surfaces. Some in our list even auto detect when a switch is made which is incredibly neat.
- Hose length – The hose length can be an important part of the decision making process. We’ve seen many instances of our cat and dog hair ending up high in the curtains. Without a long hose, we would have never been able to reach or clean those areas!
Must Have Accessories
Most of us like to keep pets, especially cats or dogs. One of the major problem when you are having these pets at home is that their dander can cause allergies for people living in the house. The best way to avoid allergies is to use a vacuum cleaner to clean the bed, furniture, and car. Many of the standard vacuum cleaners do not have the necessary attachments to deal with the dog, cat hairs and dander however. There are many accessories available that can be fitted to standard vacuums to keep it free from animal hair. These include:
